distinguish between velocity and momentum
Answers
Answer:
velocity is the rate of change of position of a body while momentum is mass times velocity of the body. Impacts of both the quantities on a body are completely different. However, the directions of both of them is always same. So, to change the velocity of a body, we always need a force but to change the momentum, we can vary the mass also. Moreover, the rate of change of velocity with respect to time is equal to acceleration of the body whereas, rate of change of momentum with respect to time is equal to force applied on a body. Another very important difference between these quantities is that velocity of a body in a closed system is not conserved while momentum of a body in a closed system is conserved.
