Difference between Indian and western model of secularism
state supported reforms are an important feature of Indian Model whereas the western model believes in mutual exclusion of state and religion and hence none intervenes into the other.
western model: Liberty = liberty of individual & Equality = equality between individuals. Indian Model: freesom & equality = freedom and equality within and between religions
western models believes in non intervention = mutual exclusion whereas Indian models stands for principled distance. It respects & recognises all religion and at the same time disrespects those identities that are dogmatic, orthodox and oppressive.
