salt like hydrides are also called inonic hydrodries.they are formed by group 1 and group 2 elements with h2 . the are basic in nature. they dissolved in water forming alkali
and give h2 gas eg NaH, CaH2, KH etc covalent hydrides are formed between less electropositive and electronegative elements
ex B2H6,AlH3,BeH,they are insoluble in water
