Glucagon is a hormone released by the alpha cells of islets of langerhans.

Insulin is released by the beta cells of islets of langerhans.

# Glucagon stimulates the conversion of glycogen to glucose through glucogenolysis. The glucose production from amino acids through gluconeogenesis. And reduces the glucose intake by liver.

When there is low blood glucose, glucagon is released to prevent hypoglycemia.

# Now, in order to prevent the blood glucose levels rising too high. Insulin, in contrast to glucagon, stimulates the intake of blood glucose into cells. This results in lowering of glucose levels in blood, preventing hyperglycemia.
