Silver Nitrate test can be used to distinguish chlorobenzene and chlorocyclohexane.
Explanation:
- As the compounds namely chlorobenzene and chlorocyclohexane gives different product on reaction with silver nitrate solution, it is used to distinguish the two compounds.
- When 2% ethanolic silver nitrate solution is added to chlorobenzene and chlorocyclohexane, the former doesn't show any reaction whereas the latter forms a white precipitate with it.
- It is because due to the difference in the hybridization of carbon chlorine bonds present in the compounds.
- In case of  chlorocyclohexane , the C-Cl bond is of hybridization and facilitates nucleophilic reaction, whereas in chlorobenzene it is hybridization and doesn't undergoes nucleophilic reaction.
