1. Distinguishing test between ammonium sulphate and sodium sulphate :
If you heat ammonium sulphate with calcium oxide, smell of ammonia will come out.
(NH4)2SO4 + CaO → CaSO4 + 2NH3 +H2O
If a wet glass road by HCl is hold on the evolved gas, white fumes of NH4Cl will form.
NH3 + HCl → NH4Cl
But sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) does not respond to above mentioned tests.
If flame test is performed with Na2SO4, a golden yellow flame will be observed.

Distinguishing Chemical test between sodium sulphate and ammonium sulphate:
Add ammonium sulphate in sodium sulphate and heat. In no time, fumes of ammonia will start to emerge in the air and a distinguish smell is detected.
Ammonia has a very distinct smell hence it is easily recognized.
The chemical equation of such a solution is as follows;
NH42SO4 + 2NaOH → 2NH3 + Na2SO4+2H2O
