Let, the two numbers are x and (34 - x).

By the given condition,

4/7 × x = 2/5 × (34 - x)

⇒ 4x/7 = {2(34 - x)}/5

⇒ 5 × 4x = 7 × (68 - 2x)

⇒ 20x = 476 - 14x

⇒ 20x + 14x = 476

⇒ 34x = 476

⇒ 34x = 34 × 14

⇒ x = 14

∴ x = 14

So, the required numbers are
14 and (34 - 14)

i.e., 14 and 20.
