Convergent evolution:-
Convergent evolution is when two species with different ancestral origins develop similar characteristics.
An example of convergent evolution are the wings of insects, birds and bats. They all serve the same function and are similar in structure, but evolved independently.
Divergent evolution:-
divergent evolution refers to when two species diverge from a common ancestor and develop different characteristics.
Galapagos finches are an example of divergent evolution. Through time, the species evolved morphologically different traits. A prototype example of divergent evolution is Galapagos finches. Charles Darwin's Beagle voyage led him to conclude that the finches diverged from their descendant species.
