Divide 17,100 into two parts such that the simple interest on the first part for 3 years at 7% rate of
interest per annum is equal to the simple interest on the second part for 4 years at 9% per annum.​

Let Rs.3600 be divided into two parts x and y respectively.

x+y=3600

y=3600−x

As we know that,

S.I.=100P×R×t

Now,

For Rs.x,

Rate of interest =9% per annum

t=1

S.I.=100x×9×1

For Rs.y,

Rate of interest =10% per annum

t=1

S.I.=100y×10×1

⇒S.I.=100(3600−x)×10

Now, according to the question-

1009x+10010(3600−x)=333

⇒9x+36000−10x=33300

⇒x=36000−33300=2700

Therefore,

y=3600−2700=900

Hence Rs.3600 can be divided in Rs.2700 and Rs.900 respectively.
