Solutions :

1) First question's answer :

Let, the two parts be x and y

Then, x + y = 180 .....(i)

Given that, the first part ( x ) is 12 less than twice the second part ( y ). Then

        x = 2y - 12 .....(ii)

Putting x = 2y - 12 in (i), we get

  2y - 12 + y = 180

  ⇒ 2y + y = 180 + 12

  ⇒ 3y = 192

  ⇒ y = 192 ÷ 3

  ⇒ y = 64

So, x = 2 ( 64 ) - 12, by (ii)

  = 128 - 12

  = 116

Hence, the two parts are 116 and 64.

2) Second question's answer :

Let, the three consecutive odd numbers are

  2x + 1 , 2x + 3 and 2x + 5

Then, their sum

  = 2x + 1 + 2x + 3 + 2x + 5 = 6x + 9

  ⇒ 6x + 9 = 75

  ⇒ 6x = 75 - 9

  ⇒ 6x = 66

  ⇒ x = 11

Therefore, the consecutive odd numbers are

2 ( 11 ) + 1 , 2 ( 11 ) + 3 and 2 ( 11 ) + 5

i.e., 22 + 1 , 22 + 3 and 22 + 5

i.e., 23 , 25 and 27
