Divide 184 into two parts such that one third of one part may exceed one seventh of the other part by 8.​

The other number as 184 – x

So, One-third of one part may exceed one-seventh of another part by 8. x/3 – (184-x)/7 = 8

LCM for 3 and 7 is 21 (7x – 552 + 3x)/21 = 8

By cross-multiplying we get, (7x – 552 + 3x) = 8(21) 10x – 552 = 168 10x = 168 + 552 10x = 720 x = 720/10 = 72

∴ One of the number is 72 and other number is 184 – x => 184 – 72 = 112.
