Let's assume that the smaller number be x.

Then the other number will be ( 23-x ) .

Now, according to the question :

$\sf\:3x=2(23-x) +9$

$\sf↦\:3x=46-2x +9$

$\sf↦\:3x+2x=46 +9$

$\sf↦\:5x=46 +9$

$\sf↦\:5x=55$

$\sf↦\:x=\frac{55}{5}$

$\tt\purple{↦\:x=11}$

$\sf\:So\:smaller\:number\:x=11$

$\sf\:and\:other\:number\:23-x=23-11=12$
