Step-by-step explanation:

let the four parts are a,b,c,d then

a+b+c+d = 286 then

a+1 = b-2 = 3c = d/4 = X ( let)

a+1 = X

a= x-1

b-2 = X

b = X+2

3c = X

c = X/3

d/4 = X

d = 4x

now put the values in first equation

x-1 + X+2 + X/3 + 4x = 286

6x +X/3 = 285

(18x+ X)/3 = 285

19x = 285*3

x = 285*3/19

X = 15*3 = 45

a = 45-1= 44

b = 45+2= 47

c = 45/3 = 15

d = 45*4 = 180
