Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let p (x )= 2x³ + x² - 3x - 3

If 2x -1 is a factor of p ( x ),then 2x - 1 = 0 ⇒ x = 1/2.

On substituting " x = 1/2 " in p ( x ),we get

p (1/2 )= 2 (1/2)³ + (1/2)² - 3 (1/2) - 3

= 2 (1/8) + 1/4 - 3/2 - 3

= 1/4 + 1/4 - 3/2 - 3

=( 1 + 1 - 6 - 12 ) / 4

= ( 2 - 18 ) /4

= - 16 / 4

= - 4 is the answer.
