Let one part = x

other part = 36-x

Given that 1/5 of the one part is equal to 1/7 of the other part

\Rightarrow \frac{x}{5} = \frac{36 - x}{7} \\ \\ \Rightarrow x \times 7 = (36 - x) \times 5 \\ \\ \Rightarrow 7x = 180 - 5x \\ \\ \Rightarrow 7x + 5x = 180 \\ \\ \Rightarrow 12x = 180 \\ \\ \Rightarrow x = \frac{180}{12} \\ \\ \Rightarrow x = 15 \\ \\ 36 - x = 36 - 15 = 21

Thus two parts are 15 and 21
