Let the two parts be x, y.

According to the question,

x+y=36 -(1)

115x=17y -(2)

From (2),

y=(115/17)x

Putting this in (1),

x+(115/17)x = 36

132x=612

=>x=612/132

= 153/33

= 51/11

Now,

y=(115/17)(51/11)

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y=36

and 115x= 17y

y= 115/17x

x+115/17x= 36

x = 36*17/132

= 19.25
