 \frac{3 {x}^{2} + 2x - 1 }{x + 1}

 =  \frac{3 {x}^{2} + 3x - x - 1}{x + 1}

 =  \frac{3x(x + 1)- 1(x + 1)}{x + 1}

 =  \frac{(3x - 1)(x + 1)}{(x + 1)}

(x+1) will cancel out .

 = 3x - 1
