  • Let 1:2:3 be 1x,2x,3x
  • So, 42 = 1x+2x+3x
  • 42= 6x
  • 42 ÷6 = x
  • 7 = x
  • 1x = 1×7= 7
  • 2x = 2×7=14
  • 3x =3×7=21

Let 1x, 2x and 4x . Then,

According to the question:

1x + 2x + 4x = 42

=> 7x = 42

=> x = 42 ÷ 7

=> x = 6

Therefore, (1x)= (1 × 6) = 6

(2x) = (2 × 6) = 12

(4x) = (4 × 6) = 24

Hence, the numbers in which 42 can be divide are 6, 12 and 24.

Hope it helps you...
