x+1= 0
x= -1

p(x) =  5 + x - 2x ^{2}
p(-1) = 5 + (-1) - 2(-1)^{2}
        = 5 - 1-2
        = 4-2
        = 2

Annabeth: Note : the 2 after 2x is supposed to be an exponent
