Divide ₹500into two parts such as onefourth of one part is aqual to one part tenth of other parts find both parts

Let the parts be x and 500 - x.

Therefore the equation is :

x / 4 = (500 - x) / 10

By cross-multiplying we get,

10 x = 4 ( 500 - x )

10 x = 2000 - 4 x

10 x +4 x = 2000

14 x = 2000

x = 2000 / 14 = Rs 1000 / 7

Therefore the other part 500 - x = 500 - 1000 / 7

= (3500 - 1000) / 7

= Rs 2500 / 7

Therefore the parts are Rs 1000/ 7 and Rs 2500 / 7
