Let the first part be x so the other part is (57-x).
Given that product of two parts is 680 , therefore
x(57 -x) = 680
57x - x² = 680
x ² - 57x + 680 = 0
x² - 40x - 17x + 680 = 0
x (x -40) - 17 (x -40) = 0
(x - 17) (x - 40) = 0
x = 17. and x = 40
Therefore the two parts are 40 and 17 .
