Solution - Let the amount received by Kesav and David be 5x and 4x respectively.

As per the question -

5x + 4x = 72,000

9x = 72,000

$x = \frac{72000}{9}$

Performing division to find the value of x

x = 8000

So, amount received by Kesav = 5*8000

Amount received by Kesav = 40,000

Amount received by David = 4*8000

Amount received by David = 32,000

Hence, Kesav and David will get Rupees 40,000 and 32,000 respectively.
