Divide 72 into two part so that larger part is exceeded the smaller part by 12 ,find both the parts

72-x and x so x-72+x=12=2x=84=x=84/2=42 other part is 72-42=30

Let the smaller part be x, The larger part is x+12 

smaller part + larger part= the whole number (72)

so x+x+12=72
=2x+12=72
=2x=60
=x=30

This says that the smaller part is 30 
Therefore the larger part is 30 +12 = 42
