thus x+y=560 ............. 1

now as per 2nd condition,

2x=1/3y

thus 6x =y ......... 2

put 2 in 1

x+6x = 560

7x =560

x=560/7

thus x = 80 cm =smaller part

greater part = 6x

                    = 6*80

                   = 480 cm
