divide first polynomial by second by using factor theorem: (x²-7x+9);(x+1)
Answers
Answer:
X+8. Hope my answer is correct
Given : (x²-7x+9);(x+1) by using factor theorem
To Find : remainder
Solution:
Factor Theorem. Factor Theorem. x – a is a factor of the polynomial p(x), if p(a) = 0.
Also, if x – a is a factor of p(x), then p(a) = 0,
where a is any real number.
This is an extension to remainder theorem where remainder is 0, i.e. p(a) = 0.
value of p(a) will be remainder
(x²-7x+9) divided by (x+1)
x + 1 = x - (-1)
p(x) = x²-7x+9
p(-1) = (-1)² - 7(-1) + 9 = 1 + 7 + 9 = 17
Remainder is 17
