divide Rs.12000 into two parts such that simple intrest on the first part for two yrs. at 6% per anumm is equal to simple intrest on the second part for 3 yrs at 8% per anumm.

Let the two parts be
x ( 2 yrs at 6% per anumm)
and
y (for 3 yrs at 8% per anumm.)

x + y =12000 (1)
WE know that
SI = P*r*t/100

ATQ
(x * 6*2)/100 = (y * 8*3)/100
x = 2y

put in (1)
2y + y =12000
y = ₹4000
>> x = ₹8000
