Answer:

Let the no. of children be x and amount received by each be y. Then,

xy=250 (equation no. 1)

(x+25)(y-0.5)=250

=>xy-x/2+25y-12.5=250

=>25y-x/2=12.5

=>50y-x=25

=>x=50y-25

So, 25(2y-1)y=250

=>2y^2-y=10

=>2y^2-y-10=0

=>2y^2-5y+4y-10=0

=>y(2y-5)+2(2y-5)=0

=>(2y-5)(y+2)=0

So, y=5/2 or (-2)

Since amount can be negative so,y=2.5 rupees

and x=100 children.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the each child gets Rs x

So each woman gets Rs 3x/2

So each man gets Rs 3x

So by the given condition

(8×3x)+(6×3x/2)+ 10×x = 258

24x + 9x + 10x = 258

43x = 258

x = 258/43

x = 6

Hence each child gets Rs 6

So each woman gets Rs 9

So each man gets Rs 18
