Given:

Divide rs 3,200 between P, Q and R, so that Q may have rs 500 more than p and R rs 300 more than Q

To find:

Share of P, Q and R

Solution:

Q may have rs 500 more than P, so the equation will be,

Q = 500 + P . . . (1)

R may have Rs. 300 more than Q, so the equation will be,

R = Q + 300

From (1)

⇒ R = 500 + P + 300

⇒ R = P + 800 . . . (2)

Divide rs 3,200 between P, Q and R, so the equation will be,

P + Q + R = 3200

from (1) and (2), we get

⇒ P + 500 + P + P + 800 = 3200

⇒ 3P + 1300 = 3200

⇒ 3P = 1900

P = Rs. 633.34

∴ Q = 500 + P = 500 + 633.33 = Rs. 1133.34

∴ R = 800 + P = 800 + 633.33 = Rs. 1433.34

Thus,

P's share = Rs. 633.34

Q's share = Rs. 1133.34

R's share = Rs. 1433.34
