Define x:

let the amount that c gets be x

c = x

b = 50% of x = 0.5x

a = 50% of 0.5x = 0.5(0.5x) = 0.25x

Solve x:

The total amount is Rs 7000

x + 0.5x + 0.25x = 7000

1.75x = 7000

x = 7000 ÷ 1.75 = 4000

Find the amount each get:

c = x = Rs 4000

b = 0.5x = 0.5 (4000) = Rs 2000

a = 0.25x = 0.25 (4000) = Rs 1000

Answer: a gets Rs 1000, b gets Rs 2000 and c gets Rs 4000
