Divide Rs.8000 into two parts so that the simple interest on the first part in 3 years at 10% p.a. is equal to the simple interest on the second part in 4 years at 12.5% p.a. Give full working.

let the two parts be P and 8000-P
ist case -
p= P
r=10%
t=3 years
SI = P x 10 x 3/100=3P/10
second case -
p=8000-P
r=12.5%
t= 4 years
SI
=( 8000-P) x 12.5 x 4/100
=(8000-P) /2
Now
ATQ
3P/10 = (8000-P)/2
3P/5 = 8000-P
3P = 40000-5P
8P= 40000
P = 5000
the two parts are
5000
and
3000

Madhushri: How did we get 40000? I didn't understand it.
Madhushri: Explain me everything after APQ
Madhushri: *ATQ
maria9: the Q says that the simple interest on one parts of the money is = to the simple interest of the other part
maria9: so I just took out the simple interest of first part and the simple interest of the second part and made them equivalent
Madhushri: Thanks!! :)
maria9: did you understand
