Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let p ( z ) = 12z³ + 3z² + 4z + 1

If ( 4z + 1 ) is a factor of p ( z )

Then z = - 1/ 4

On substituting,

p ( - 1/4) = 12 (- 1/4)³ + 3 (-1/4)² + 4 (-1/4) + 1

= 12 ( -1/64) + 3 (1/16) - 1 + 1

= -3/16+ 3/16

= 0

Hence, (4z +1) is a factor of p (z).
