GIVEN :

Divide the polynomial x^5-4x^3+ x^2+ 3x+1 by x^3-3x+1

TO FIND :

The quotient of the given polynomials.

SOLUTION :

Given that divide the polynomial x^5-4x^3+ x^2+ 3x+1 by x^3-3x+1

By using Long Division Method we can solve this polynomials.

                             x^2-1

                  _______________________

x^3-3x+1 ) x^5-4x^3+x^2+3x+1

                    x^5-3x^3+x^2

                 _(-)_(+)__(-)___________

                         -x^3+0x^2+3x+1

                         -x^3+3x-1

                     __(+)__(-)__(+)______

                                          2

                        ________________

When we divide the polynomial x^5-4x^3+ x^2+ 3x+1 by x^3-3x+1 we get that the quotient is x^2-1 and remainder is 2

∴ the quotient is x^2-1 and remainder is 2.
