Given p(x) = 3x^2 + x - 1.

Given g(x) = x + 1.

Zero of the polynomial is g(x) = 0

⇒ x + 1 = 0

⇒ x = -1.

Therefore, p(-1) = 3(-1)^2 + (-1) - 1

                         = 3 - 1 - 1

                         = 1.

By remainder theorem, the remainder is 1.

Hope this helps!
