Question:-

Divide x³ - 4x² + 2x - 3 by ( x + 2 )

Solution:-

p( x ) = x³ - 4x² + 2x - 3

use factor theorem

p(x) is divided by ( x + 2 )

Now,

p( - 2 ) = 0

=> x³ - 4x² + 2x - 3

=> ( - 2 )³ - 4 × (-2)² + 2 × (-2) - 3

=> - 8 - 4 × 2 - 4 -3

=> - 8 - 8 - 4 - 3

=> -16 - 7

=> - 23

Remainder is -23
