Answer:

I THINK YOU HAVE MISSED SOMETHING. (PROBABLY A + SIGN) ( Y² + 2Y - 3 ) / ( Y - 1 ).

IT WILL BE (Y + 3).

Y - 1 | Y² + 2Y - 3 |

MULTIPLY SUCH A TERM IN THE DIVIDER SO THAT IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO THE 1ST TERM OF THE NUMBER.

FOR EXAMPLE ON MULTIPLYING Y WITH (Y-1) WE GET (Y² - Y) WHICH WE HAVE TO SUBTRACT FROM THE GIVEN NUMBER.

LIKE THAT ONE AFTER ONE WE HAVE TO ELIMINATE THE TERMS OF THE GIVEN NUMBER.

ITS AN EASY STEP. DO TRY YOURSELF. I GAVE YOU THE HINT. LATER ON THE ANSWER WILL COME ( Y - 3). DO YOUR SELF COMPLETELY. YOU WILL ABLE TO GRAB WHAT THE CONCEPT IS.
