division is a kind of repeated subtraction


example
10÷5=2

10-5=5-5=0

in the first case we just see that 10 divided by 5 gives 2

in the second case we subtract first five from 10 and we get 5

and then again we subtract 5 from 5 and we get 0

so we do this repeated subtraction
and we get the quotient as 2
