Answer:

Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana.

Answer:

Diwali is a festival of lights.

The main cause of celebrating this was :-

Ayodhya, the kingdom of Lord Ram had been in darkness for 14 years.

So when their King came back from his exile, the people there celebrated the occasion with lots of happiness.

On this day, they lighted diyas and kept them everywhere.

The darkness went and the whole Ayodhya was looking very beautiful in the lights.

So, it's called the festival of lights.

Till date, people do the same activity and their belief is that the darkness of all bad things goes away by the light which will now make everything good.

The festival lasts for 5 days. On the first day, Dhantrayodashi, People buy new things only.

Like new vehicle or a new house

Second day is Narak Chaturdashi also called as Choti Diwali.

Third day is Lakshmi Poojan, the Main day of lights.

They worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on this day. And even Shri Satyanarayan.

They make delicious foods, wear new clothes, decorate their homes,....etc.

Fourth day is Goverdhan Pooja or Bali pratipada.

And fifth, the last is Bhai Dooj or Bhau Beej.

Its day for Brothers and Sisters.

Hope it helps..
