Answer:
When the whole of India was ready for 'Dandi Cooch' at the call of Vallabhbhai Patel. To make this journey unsuccessful, the British imprisoned him for three months. Gandhiji did not like the arrest of Vallabhbhai Patel in this way and he himself led this journey. This journey started from Sabarmati. Gandhiji went to Raas via Borsad and called the people there. From there he reached Kanakapura. The purpose of this Dandi Cooch was to create enthusiasm for freedom within the people, to prepare the people of Satyagraha and to demand Purna Swaraj from the British rule. From Kanakapura, the river had to be crossed in the middle of the night but at midnight the darkness was so deep that nothing was visible. Then thousands of water were burnt on both sides of the river to increase the enthusiasm of Gandhiji and other soldiers of freedom. Thousands of people stood with hands in hand so that people would not have any problem in crossing the river. This story is a testimony to the unity that was in the time of independence. The people had only one aim, to free India from the bondage of slavery and drive the British out of India.
