DL and DM are the heights on sides AB and AD respectively of parallelogram ABCD. If the area of the parallelogram is 1470sq.cm, AB=35cm and AD=49cm, find the length of BM and DL.

area of parallelogram = base ×height
if height = DL 
then , base = AB
now, area = DL× AB
1470 = DL × 35
⇒DL = 1470/35 =42 cm 
similarly, if height = BM
base = AD
then, area = BM×AD
 ⇒ 1470 = BM× 49
⇒BM = 1470/49 =30
so, BM =30 cm and DL = 42 cm
