Explanation:

DNA is genetic material in most of the organism while RNA is genetic material for some bacteria

Reason

1) The stability of DNA is more as compared to RNA

2) The changes that take place in DNA is very slow as compared to RNA which is essential for evolution

Sorry i remember only two points now

Explanation:

  1. DNA is more stable because even if the two complementary strands are separated by factors like heat, they can come together again. But RNA is more labile and easily degradable because of an additional – OH group in the 2 position of ribose in every nucleotide. DNA does not acy as enzyme. But some RNA molecules act as enzymes and therefore, are more reactive.
  2. .DNA has Thymine which gives additional stability. RNAmolecules do nit have thymine. Both RNA and DNA can mutate.
  3. RNA is unstable because of the presence of Uracil instead of Thymine. RNA has ribose sugar and DNA has deoxy-ribose sugar in their monomers, the presence of one free -OH group at 2nd Carbon in ribose sugar makes it more prone to oxidation.
  4. The smaller grooves in DNA make it less prone to enzyme degradation and the larger grooves in RNA makes it more prone to enzymes attack. The other reasons why RNA was eliminated as genetic material during the course of evolution is because of the high chances of mutations that occur during replication. D
  5. NA has less chances of mutation , because the coding parts (exons, 2% of human genome) and interrupted by non coding parts (introns, 98% of human genome), hence in case of a mutation , there are high chances that they occur in non-coding region. One more advantage of DNA is the proof reading during the replication process, which ensures that no mutations are inserted.
  6. Due to high stability of DNA over RNA, it was chosen as genetic material of evolved specie....
