Yes, active cells require more energy, so they have high/rapid rate of respiration . Respiration is the process in which glucose is oxidised to provide energy. Actively dividing cells such as meristematic cells in plants have high number of mitochondria to perform higher rate of respiration in order to meet the high energy demands.
