Answer:

1 ans---When microorganisms decompose organic matter, they use the carbon and nutrients in the organic matter for their own growth. They release excess nutrients into the soil where they can be taken up by plants.

2 ans---Ignition temperature: It is the minimum temperature to which a combustible substance must be heated, before it catches fire.

why does the fire goes off when water is poured over burning wood?

it happened because of water absorbs large amount of heat energy, which results in fall in the temperature of wood below it's ignition temperature and the fire goes off.

3 ans---Petroleum is a fossil fuel, meaning that it has been created by the decomposition of organic matter over millions of years. Petroleum is formed when large quantities of dead organisms–primarily zooplankton and algae–underneath sedimentary rock are subjected to intense heat and pressure.

4 ans---Among the oldest methods of preservation are drying, refrigeration, and fermentation. Modern methods include canning, pasteurization, freezing, irradiation, and the addition of chemicals. Advances in packaging materials have played an important role in modern food preservation.

5 ans---Nature uses microorganisms to carry out fermentation processes, and for thousands of years mankind has used yeasts, moulds and bacteria to make food products such as bread, beer, wine, vinegar, yoghurt and cheese, as well as fermented fish, meat and vegetables.

hope it helps!
