Answer:

Conjunctions are joining words. (Words that join two sentences)

Eg. You should study. You will fail.

You will fail unless you study.

There are three types of conjunctions:

1. Coordinating Conjunctions

  • They join the same types of grammatical units like noun with noun,       adjective with adjective, clause with clause etc.
  • They are used to form compound sentences
  • I like both purple and blue.
  • You can remember some of the coordinating conjunctions with FANBOYS - for, and, nor/neither, but, or/either, yet, so.

2. Subordinating Conjunctions

  • They join sentences in which the second part of the sentence is dependent upon the first one.
  • They are used to form complex sentences.
  • Although I was excited, I kept my clam.
  • Eg. Though/Although, till/until, before/after, because, whether/if, than etc.

3. Correlative Conjunctions

  • They are used in pairs
  • I will drink either tea or juice.
  • neither...nor, either...or, though...yet, both...and
