b.During running, some muscle cells respire anaerobically due to lack of oxygen and form lactic acid. In order to convert this lactic acid into carbon dioxide oxygen is required. Therefore, we breathe faster and deeper than usual to produce more oxygen and meet the extra demand for energy.
