Explanation:

chromosomes are thread like structure which is composed of mainly DNA
Along With DNA, it also contain RNA and protein
Proteins are Histone and non histone proteins. Basic histone proteins helps in packaging of chromosome, so that large chromosome can fit within the tiny cells.
RNA may also found with chromosome. Non histone protein and RNA both protect the chromosome from degradation by nuclease.
