Coelenterate refers to organisms having hollow body cavity. In fact, they have gastro vascular cavity but it is not a real cavity.

Gastro vascular version is used to facilitate extra cellular digestion and transportation of nutrients.

• The cavity is inundated with unspecialized cells called mesogial cells.
