Yes. The difference between a fertilized egg and a non fertilized egg comes down to whether the hen has mated with a rooster or not. Hens naturally lay eggs, (daily) according to light patterns, as a result of their light sensitive eyes which kickstart the production. When the hen does happen to mate with a rooster, the egg then becomes fertilized and has the potential, under the right incubation conditions, to become a chick. No rooster means no possibility for the eggs to become more than that. Most eggs sold by commercial foods, use hens that havent mated, therefore decreasing the posibility of cracking open an egg just to find an undeveloped chick inside. Hope this helped!
