The only way to claim a refund of taxes is by filing an income tax return. Whether a return should be filed or not depends on your income level. When total income is within the minimum exemption limit, it's not compulsory to file a tax return. The minimum exemption limit is R2.5 lakh if you are less than 60 years old.
