Major International Organizations do not function in a democratic manner-

For example:

1. The Security Council has many members but five countries, USA, UK, France, China and Russia have the veto power.

2. The International Monetary Fund has 188 member states but they do not have equal voting rights. The vote of each country is weighed on the basis of the amount of money it has contributed to the IMF.

3. The President of the World Bank is a citizen of USA who is nominated by the treasury secretary of the USA government.

4. A democracy allows people of the country to elect or choose their rulers. It is not so at the international level.

5. Democracy is a rule by majority. This principle is also not applicable at the international level.
