Question :-

Find the value of k if (x - 3) is a factor of \sf{x}^{2} - kx - 2.

Answer :-

 \sf{g(x) \implies x - 3= 0 } \\  \sf{ \implies \: x = 0 + 3 = 3}

Now putting the value of x.

 \sf  \pink{ {x}^{2} - kx - 2 = 0 } \\ \sf{ {3}^{2}  - k \times 3 - 2 = 0}  \\  \sf{9 - 3k - 2 = 0} \\  \sf{7 - 3k = 0} \\  \sf{ - 3k = 0 - 7} \\  \sf{ - 3k \:  =  - 7 } \\  \sf \therefore{k =  \frac{7}{3} }
